Using Notepad in Vista

To open notepad in Vista:

click on the ’start’ icon
In the search type ‘notepad’
Click on the notepad icon in the search results window
Once you are in notepad click on “File” and “Open”
You will need to browse to find your .HTML file. Make sure that you change your search from “text documents” to “all files” otherwise you won’t be able to see your .HTML file.

First you need to choose a domain name. A domain name is the name that identifies a Web site such as www.msn.com or www.rccwebproject.net.

Keep your domain names short! You don’t want to have an extremely long domain name that nobody will remember such as www.thisismyveryfirstwebsiteproject8874.com.

I have picked out a domain name but how do I know if it is available?

There are many websites that can check the availability of your domain name choice such as: whois.net. Not only does this website allow you to check if a domain name is available, but you can also type in an existing domain name and find out who it belongs to.

My domain name is available and I am ready to purchase it, where do I go?

There are many places to purchase a domain name, many website host providers offer the option to purchase your domain name and get hosting at the same time. I recommend omnis.com. They are inexpensive, reliable and have an easy-to-use interface. Domain names cost $6.95 for a whole year and hosting is only $5.95 a month!

I also recommending purchasing the UNIX hosting package as there are a lot of plug-ins available to add to your website with minimal effort.
